Effect of water immersion on human tolerance to forward and backward acceleration.

چکیده
T H E physical basis of the protective effect of water immersion during acceleration has been recognized for many years. In essence, the immersed subject, rather than being exposed only to the inertial force caused by acceleration is suspended, as it were, between this f o r c e and an opposite and almost equal force due to buoyancy. Acceleration causes a proportional increase in the magnitude of both of these forces. Thus, even at large accelerations, there is little net force acting to displace the subject. For t h i s reason, the immersed subject would not be expected to experience shifts of blood like those which cause blackout. Further, the immersed subject should require no restraint during acceleration and should retain the ability to move the entire body at all accelerations. The heart and mediastinum however, are immersed in the air-filled lungs and never in water. For this reason water immersion does not alter the forces acting on the heart and

ILU and IUL factorizations obtained from forward and backward factored approximate inverse algorithms
In this paper, an efficient dropping criterion has been used to compute the IUL factorization obtained from Backward Factored APproximate INVerse (BFAPINV) and ILU factorization obtained from Forward Factored APproximate INVerse (FFAPINV) algorithms. We use different drop tolerance parameters to compute the preconditioners. To study the effect of such a dropping on the quality of the ILU ...
متن کاملComparative Approach to the Backward Elimination and for-ward Selection Methods in Modeling the Systematic Risk Based on the ARFIMA-FIGARCH Model
The present study aims to model systematic risk using financial and accounting variables. Accordingly, the data for 174 companies in Tehran Stock Exchange are extracted for the period of 2006 to 2016. First, the systematic risk index is estimated using the ARFIMA-FIGARCH model. Then, based on the research background, 35 affective financial and accounting variables are simultaneously used with t...
متن کاملNew Approach to Instability Threshold of a Simply Supported Rayleigh Shaft
The main goal of this research is to analyse the effect of angular velocity on stability and vibration of a simply supported Rayleigh rotating shaft. To this end, non-dimensional kinetic and potential energies are written while lateral vibration is considered. Finite element method is employed to discrete the formulations and Linear method is applied to analyse instability threshold of a rotati...
متن کاملThe Effect of Water Immersion and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (TDCS) during Recovery Period on Changes in Blood Lactate and Subsequent Performance of Swimmers
The present study was aimed to determine the effect of cold-water immersion and (TDCS) during the recovery period on blood lactate changes in and subsequent performance of professional male swimmers. For this purpose, 20 male participated in this study in two days with an interval of 48 hours. The two-hundred meter breaststroke was performed every day and then the subjects participated in one o...

Background : Acute lateral ankle sprains are the most common injuries in sports and routine activities of life. The purpose of this study was an overview of EMG activation of postural stabilizer muscles in dynamic balance test to provide clinicians with biomechanical perspectives of the local and global effects of ankle instability. Methods : The sinker– card protocol was used as a dynamic ...
